On one hand my film installations engage the imagination through the cognitive appeal of the cinematic experience and its sensory seduction. On the other hand it is an endeavor to demystify the cinematic image by exposing the ephemeral world onscreen as the sum of parts: film stock, lighting, lenses, action, location and fake smoke. Undermining the habitual expectations of the viewer by exposing the 'lie' within a production sheds light on the material conditions of presentation and reception. The artifice within the films is thus reassigned as a means to critique the way the presentation of information is sometimes employed to stand in for the real.
